Veins are blood vessels which carry bad blood or oxygen depleted blood back from different tissues and body parts to the heart for oxygenating and purifying it. Since blood flows through these veins against the force of gravity, standing or walking for too long will cause excess pressure on these veins. They tend to become deformed, twisted and enlarged and are called varicose veins. Along with these factors, other factors get added on and cause the leaking of valves which in turn makes pools of blood in these veins. These veins are found to affect the ankles, legs and feet.
